Preceptor Development

What are Preceptors?

Licensed healthcare providers who instruct, train and supervise health profession students during the clinical training portion of their educational studies.

Why are Preceptors important?

The training received from a preceptor allows the student to apply the knowledge received from the classroom in a real world setting.

They also serve as mentors - can “open doors” and assist with gaining access to places and experiences students may not have received otherwise. Not only do the students receive clinical education but they also adopt positive attributes.

What’s in it for me?

  • Georgia Preceptor Tax Incentive Program (GA PTIP)

  • If you don’t train them, who will?

    • We value clinical educators who contribute to the development of quality healthcare professionals.

    • Are you a licensed healthcare provider looking to incorporate clinical training into your practice?

      • We are always looking for new preceptors …

      • We work with all GA medical schools and local health science institutions to coordinate clinical training in our communities.
