Three Rivers AHEC aims to “Grow Our Own” health care professionals. Our health career programs increase student interest and knowledge about health careers. ABOUT US: Three Rivers AHEC The Three Rivers Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is a community-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the healthcare workforce to meet local healthcare needs since our inception in 1994. Our success is rooted in the numerous partnerships and collaborations we have established over the years, including healthcare providers, health professions students, academic institutions, state and federal agencies, the Georgia Statewide AHEC Network, in the communities we serve. Each partnership is as distinct as our program areas— Recruit, Train, and Retain —forming the foundation of our Programmatic Model: The Health Professions Pipeline. We emphasize educational initiatives that promote a “grow our own” approach, aimed at improving the supply, distribution, retention, and education of the healthcare workforce. Since 1984, the Georgia statewide AHEC network has fostered an expanding alliance among health providers, health professions students, educators, state agencies, professional associations, and communities. This partnership is dedicated to addressing the challenges associated with the shortage and uneven distribution of health professionals in rural and underserved areas. These issues are tackled through state-sponsored educational support for health professionals, both in their academic pursuits and in their professional practice. OUR WORK VALUES & GUIDING PRINCIPLES As an organization, we Are focused on the communities we serve; Are dedicated to partnerships and collaboration; Will treat others as we want to be treated; Are committed to excellence, accountability, responsibility, ethical behavior, and stewardship; and Are committed to communicating our outcomes to our stakeholders and partners.
