Mary V. Fielder, MLS, AHIP
Manager of Educational Services / Outreach Librarian
Three Rivers AHEC

Mary FielderTen years ago I came to Three Rivers AHEC with over 15 years of medical librarianship experience.  Building on this vast experience, I provide our providers and students with library services, literature support to maintain licensure and best practice guidelines, and computer training to locate professional and patient education materials.  I am also available for consultation in developing or managing a medical library for health care facilities or consumer health collections.  More recently, I have expanded our training services to public libraries and their patrons by providing programs on how to answer consumer health and wellness information questions by using MedlinePlus and other quality web sites.

In addition to library services, I will also assist non-profits, faith-based organizations, healthcare facilities, and schools in locating grants to support specific projects.  I have been successful in writing and obtaining over 12 grants since 2000.  These grants have been the basis for creating websites and electronic networks, designing and implanting summer health career camps, promoting health literacy and consumer health information, and/or marketing critical access hospitals.

I have a Masters in Library Science from Florida State University and am a member of the Medical Library Association’s Academy of Health Information Professionals.  I have authored numerous articles and presented at state, regional, and national meetings.  I belong to various state and national professional associations, plus holding officer positions.
